This lesson will be an introduction to the Creative Expression course. You will have an opportunity to reflect on your own creativity and what it means to you. This lesson will discuss the definition of creativity and why it is important for school-age children.

As a school-age staff member, you will be responsible for providing children with a variety of experiences that cultivate creativity. This lesson will describe developmentally appropriate experiences for school-age children and discuss ways to ensure you are supporting all learners.

Spaces and materials are powerful drivers for creativity. This lesson will highlight the significance of carefully organizing and  selecting materials to promote creativity. You will learn about choosing culturally responsive creative materials and choosing materials that support the strengths, needs, and abilities of all children.

This lesson highlights the significance of being a creative school-age staff member and provides insights on how to promote creativity when engaging with children, families, and colleagues. A key learning point is the importance of self-reflection and collaborative, supportive relationships.
