You are responsible for the professional development of a large number of staff. This can be difficult to manage and requires complex organizational skills. Use this activity to reflect on your own practice. Think about how you can ensure all staff members engage in the professional development they need.

1. What are your biggest struggles in your current position?
    
2. Think about the staff member you have the strongest professional connection with. What about that relationship works?
    
3. Think about a staff member you are struggling with or have struggled with in the past. What were barriers to your relationship?
    
4. Based on the previous two answers, what are the characteristics of staff members you have an easy time working with? What are the characteristics of staff members you have a harder time working with?
    
5. How can you use this knowledge of yourself and your own relationships to improve your work with all staff members?
    
6. What resources do you need to help you do your job?
    
7. What professional skills do you want to develop? Make a plan here for getting professional development on those skills. Talk to your manager about your plan.
