Directions: Use this checklist to observe and document competencies that specifically address healthy environments. As you observe and reflect on a staff member’s practice, indicate whether the staff member performs the following actions. Share your observations with staff and use the information learned from the checklist to identify goals and focus your coaching interactions. This checklist can also be used by T&CSs and Program Managers to provide feedback to staff members who do not provide direct care to children in the program.

Cleaning supplies are stored in a locked location or out of reach of children.

Soiled toys or materials (sneezed on, etc.) are cleaned and sanitized after each use.

Mouthed toys are cleaned after each use and sanitized daily.
