Use these resources to learn more about supporting families of children with special learning needs in your care. You may also want to share some of these resources with families. The Beach Center on Disability offers a number of research-based tools that families and programs can use to set goals. The DEC Recommended Practices provide guidance to practitioners and families about the most effective ways to improve the learning outcomes and promote the development of young children, birth through age 5, who have or are at-risk for developmental delays or disabilities. Developed by the DEC Recommended Practices Commission. Download from: Family Voices aims to achieve family-centered care for all children and youth with special health care needs and/or disabilities. The IRIS Center offers professional learning modules, videos, and resources to support professionals. It has an in-depth library of special education resources, and 5 modules focused on early childhood. The Kids Included Together website offers an Inclusion 101 series, a YouTube channel, and a variety of resources to support staff and families in child development and school-age programs. The PACER Center offers a wide range of resources for families and children with disabilities from birth through adulthood. The early childhood family information and resources page offers videos of family experiences, links to helpful resources, frequently asked questions, and overviews of child development and services. Within the Family 勛圖厙 and Leadership priority area, the Waisman Center UCEDD works to promote and strengthen the participation of families that include a person with disabilities in partnerships with professionals and providers, community members, and elected officials.
