Curiosity and exploration happen all the time for infants and toddlers! They become increasingly fascinated by the world and those around them, which offers opportunities for their creativity and imagination to grow and develop. Take time to observe the infants and toddlers in your care and write down what you notice that fits with the characteristics highlighted below. When you are finished, share your observations with your trainer, coach, or administrator.

1. Infants and toddlers have a natural curiosity about the environment and explore within the context of nurturing and responsive relationships.
   Example: A child uses a baby bottle to feed their doll after observing their teacher do the same with a peer.
