Directions: Answer the following questions to determine if the observed sexual behavior is normative. If you answer yes to all six of the questions, the sexual behavior is most likely normative. Remember that this is not black-and-white, and there will be times when you cannot confidently answer yes or no. It is advisable to seek guidance from a trainer, coach, or administrator while using this tool.

1. Is the behavior random or infrequent?

 

 

2. Is the behavior typical for the child’s age and developmental ability?

 

 

3. Is the behavior driven by curiosity, exploration, and playfulness?

 

 

4. If other children are involved, is it mutual and good-humored?

 

 

5. If other children are involved, do they know each other well and are they of a similar age and development?

 

 

6. Is the behavior easily redirected?
