There are many different experiences and materials that can be offered to help children develop their creativity. As a family child care provider, it is important that you observe each child carefully and learn from families in an effort to determine how you can adapt an experience to meet the individual child’s needs.

Take time to observe a child in your care and provide responses to the items and questions below. Then, discuss with your trainer, coach, or family child care adminstrator.

2. In what ways does the existing environment support this young child’s creativity? Is there anything I could change in the existing environment to better support this young child’s ability to explore and experiment?
    
3. What have I learned from this child’s family about creativity?
    
4. Review the curriculum you use and identify two experiences and the materials to support these experiences that will help support this child's creativity. If you cannot find any experiences, design two of your own.
